River Portraits > I Miss Winter in Boston

By Ma. Rosa Aznar

I miss winter in Boston
Oh, how I miss you winter!
I love your frosty and frizzing mornings
the ice layers slow hardening
in ponds and rivers, keeping enclose the wintry heart
in late December;
the light declining in early afternoons
towards a sweet darkness,
strong windy evenings by Longfellow's park
grey mornings that lean in short day’s light.
The wonder of the unique landscape’s splendours
the joyful sight of magnificent hills
in front of whom our soul gets enthralled
seduced by the magic of the great river Charles
I like silent woods, and their bare branched trees
lonely and desolated looking fields
wet paths and leafy evergreen bushes;
the rainy season, and a clear colourful rainbow
I look forward to snowfalls and spinning white flakes
coming down on a snowy hard cover,
sheltering the surrounding life beat
with a white velvety cape
flourishing the environment’s beauty.
Boston, A unique place where feelings get alive
Oh, how I miss your winter!
